Current listings can be viewed at: http://www.missionfish.org/cgt/nonprofit/np.show.home.do?NP_ID=5677 Participation in
the Life2Orphans Auction ·
Method #1 is for
participants who have never sold anything on eBay or for those who would rather
have “the L2O auctioneer” create the listing for them. ·
Method #2 is for L2O members who have
experience selling on eBay and would like to list their own items. Method
#1
The participant should provide the following information
in an email to L2O @ questions@life2orphans.org. Please put L2O – Auction in the subject line. ·
Name and mailing address of the donor (for receipt
purposes and shipping reimbursement) ·
Photo of the item in digital format attached to the
email. If one photo does not adequately
portray the item, additional photos can be submitted. The first photo in the listing is free. ·
Detailed, honest description of the item. This is very important for the buyers. Things to mention: Condition – Is it brand
new? NWT (new with tags)? Sealed? Unopened? If used, describe condition -
Any flaws or defects? Is there anything that makes it
more valuable? Signed? First Edition? ·
Estimated value, if known ·
Zip code from where the item will be shipped ·
The approximate weight of the item For Method #1, the auctioneer will list your item based on
the information provided above. You
will receive an email of the auction when it is listed. The auction will run for 7 days. Upon successful completion of the auction
(which means the auctioneer has received payment from the Buyer) you will be
instructed where to ship your item.
Shipping must be done in a timely manner, usually a day or two after you
receive notice that your item has sold successfully. See the shipping section below for more information. Upon shipping your item, either FAX (610)
415-9025 or scan/email your shipping receipt(s) to Life2Orphans @ questions@life2orphans.org. You will be reimbursed for this expense and
receive a receipt for the value of your donated item. Method #2
The L2O participant who would like to list their own items
as part of the Auction must first send their eBay ID to Life2Orphans @ questions@life2orphans.org and register with
MISSION FISH. Mission Fish is the
charitable link to eBay. This is
necessary to be LINKED to our NONPROFIT account in EBAY, to be considered a
nonprofit direct seller, and to use our Life2Orphans listing screen. Once you are linked to the Life2Orphans
account, you can list your items at any time through the charitable link
Mission Fish. By doing this, your
listing will be earmarked for nonprofit and will part of the L2O tracking. (I will send you some additional
information/tips regarding listing thru Mission Fish when you forward your eBay
ID.) Upon successful completion of Method #2 auctions, the
participant will receive payment directly from the Buyer. Participant will pay for the eBay insertion
fees, final value fee and shipping fee as part of their individual eBay
account. The participant will forward
the profit from this auction as a general cash donation directly to Megan and
will be receipted as such. General Notes on eBay Selling
Starting
Price The starting price in the auction listing is not by any
means an indication of the value of the item.
There is an Insertion Fee based on the starting price of the item. The lower the starting value the cheaper
the insertion fee.
If an item is expected to attract a lot of attention, it
is usually cost effective to start the bidding low because the item will
normally reach its value regardless of the starting price. If an item is unusual and may only attract a certain
following, it may be wise to start the bidding at closer to its value. Profit for L2O
The amount that L2O will receive will be Final Value of
the auction less the Insertion Fee (chart above), the Final Value Fee (chart
below) and any Paypal fees ($0.30 + 2.9%) if the buyer uses that method of
payment. Example: An item
that started bidding at 0.99 and sold for $20 using Paypal would yield a profit
of $17.82 = $20 - (0.25 + $1.05 + 0.88)
Shipping (VERY IMPORTANT)
In all listings there will be a specified amount for
shipping that the BUYER will pay in addition to the Final Value of the
auction. This specified amount will
either be calculated by the EBAY Shipping Calculator based on zip code and
object weight, or a defined amount stated in the auction. Items will be shipped either UPS, Priority Mail, Parcel
Post Mail or Media Mail depending on the nature of the item and the Buyer’s
preference. As a
Seller, the item must be packaged very carefully to prevent
damage during shipping, but as L2O supporters you should have a lot of
experience in this department. In some
cases, the buyer may pay extra for insurance. In submitting auctions
to the auctioneer, please note any upcoming dates you would be unavailable to
ship (vacation, etc) so the item is listed accordingly. Do not submit an item for auction if you
plan to be unavailable for shipping a week to 10 days later. Feedback
Our eBay selling ID is SELL4LIFE2ORPHANS and our buyers will be leaving feedback based on
their buying experience. Potential
buyers will look at this feedback to see if they are dealing with a reputable
seller. It is VERY IMPORTANT that we describe our items as accurately as possible, package them securely, and ship them in a timely matter. This cannot be emphasized enough! If an L2O supporter wins an auction, it is
very important to remember to go back and leave POSITIVE feedback. Registering
with eBay as a BUYER
If you have never
purchased anything on eBay and would like to participate in the auction as a
BIDDER/BUYER, you will need to register with eBay. Registering as a Buyer is completely free and requires no credit
card information. Anyone creating a new
sign-in to eBay to bid on items should do so through igive.com.
If you sign-up and bid within 45 days, L2O will get a $6 donation. Questions
Please submit questions/comments off group list to Life2Orphans @ questions@life2orphans.org. If the nature of your question/comment will
benefit the group, I will send out an auction update and also modify the
instructions if necessary. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
