From Tony and Sveta after an assessment visit in August 2004:
"This Orphanage was on the outskirts of Kharkiv, and the numerous buildings that made up this orphanage were very old. The buildings were in the middle of being renovated, although all of the work was being done by the teachers at the school. The playground equipment was old and the yards were overrun with weeds, but this could be due to the fact the children were away for the summer and there was no need for upkeep.
The buildings insides were being repaired and cleaned, but it was easy to see this was a school/orphanage with very little funds. Due to the inaccessibility of most the building during our visit, I have little to report on this one. I am sure that any sort of sponsorship/apprenticeship program would make a huge difference here."
Many thanks to all of the contributors to this project!
