Feed a baby for $5 a month
Many of the orphans in the baby orphanages are malnourished. Typically babies from 4 months no longer receive formula and milk and exist on a diet of mashed potatoes, gruel and sugar water. Babies under 4 months receive insufficient formula. Many of the toddlers have rickets due to a vitamin D deficiency (no dairy or exposure to sunshine) A 2 year old might weigh 17 pounds. The babies at the orphanages are in desperate need of food. Supplemental Food Calculation · 5 calories per gram for powdered formula (baby formula is calorie intense) · 5 calories x 400g = 2000 calories per pack of baby formula · 24 packs / 9 babies = 2.67 packs of formula x 2000 calories = 5340 calories a month x 12 months = 64080 calories · To gain 1 pound of weight consume 3500 calories. · So 64080/3500 = 18.3 Over a year this adds amounts to 18.3 pounds per baby. Nestle provide us with formula and cereal at a price below wholesale. This means that for $5 we can provide supplemental feeding for a baby for a month. Sponsor A Bedridden Orphan
Imagine being bedridden 24 hours a day, 365.25 days of the year, your whole life until you die. Confined to a room with no way to view or participate in the world. With nothing to do all day except stare at the walls and roof. The months, weeks, days, hours, minutes and seconds stretch into an eternity.
This is the fate of 40 children. These bedridden orphans are divided into two rooms of 20 children each. |
Transform a life by contributing $10 a month. This will help pay for supplementary feeding, extra caregivers, and upgrade the environment (toys, feeding equipment etc).

Medical Mission Trip
Life2Orphans recognizes a significant need for medical treatment, therapies, and education in the special needs orphanages of Ukraine, and has organized a medical mission for 2006. Step 1: A team of 3 orthopedic nurses from Shriner's Hospital in Portland OR will travel to Ukraine to visit two special needs orphanages. Their goals are: serve and treat the children; instruct and educate others on treatments and needs specific to physically; and do a needs assessment in terms of supplies, education, support and surgical intervention. Step 2: Once the nurses return to Portland, they will compose another team of nurses, OTs, PTs and surgeons to return to Ukraine and perform treatments and supply orthopedic assistance. The orthopedic assistance will include wheelchairs, walkers, striders, AFO and SMO ankle braces, crutches, feeding spoons, percussion cups, etc. |
Our goal is to raise enough funds to pay for these teams to travel from Portland to Ukraine and back. We also need to include funds to cover the cost of shipping any donated medical items. The nursing teams have graciously volunteered their own funds to pay for housing and food during their stay. Please help us in this critical mission and contribute today!

PROJECT EMPTY ORPHANAGEGive An Orphan Hope
Currently there are approximately
125,000 children in Ukrainian orphanages. Many of these kids are "stuck" there
because of inaccurate or missing paperwork. This project was designed to help
kids' paperwork problems that stand between them and a loving family. In a pilot
of this project, an orphanage of 170 children had 97 childlren "stuck" in the
system because their parents had never legally released their children after
abandoning them at the orphanage. Of these 97, we were able to resolve the paperwork
issues for 27 children, thus giving them a chance to ba available for adoption
by loving families. The cost to free these children is $60 per child. It is
hard to imagine that for so many children, the only thing standing between them
and the chance for a real family is $60 and a signature. Your donation of $60
will give a Ukrainian orphan a chance to be released from an unceratin future
and give them a "fighting chance" at having a family that will love them like
they have never experienced before. Due to Ukrainian law, confidentiality is
very important for this project and the names of children or orphanages involved
in Project Empty Orphanage cannot be released. How you can help ... donate in any of the following ways:
